Our Story: Growing with Purpose 🌱
What began as a grassroots effort to meet Jackson’s child care needs has blossomed into a cornerstone of early education in our community.
Originally established as Milton Day Care Center, we were housed in the historic Milton School just off SR 32 near Wellston. From those modest beginnings, our commitment to nurturing young minds was clear.
As our vision grew, so did our name. We became the Child Development Center of Jackson County to reflect not only our care but our educational mission. In 1976, we moved into a dedicated facility on E. Broadway Street, and later expanded to a second location on Burlington Road to serve even more families.
In 2006, after years of planning, fundraising, and incredible support from USDA RD and numerous State, Federal, and local partners, construction began on a new dream—a larger, state-of-the-art facility designed to inspire learning and growth. That dream became a reality on August 13, 2007, when we opened our current center on Pattonsville Road.

🥗 Nutritious Meals & Education
Every child receives breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack—meals that often serve as their primary source of nutrition each day. These meet one-third of daily requirements set by USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program, including iron-fortified formula and cereal for infants. We're proud to be the only provider in the county offering this level of nutritional support.🧠Holistic Learning & Development
We believe in starting strong—our individualized curriculum nurtures both minds and bodies from the earliest years. Daily physical activities, health and nutrition education, and an inclusive, age-appropriate learning environment are cornerstones of our approach.❤️ Supportive Services & Screenings
We offer free social-emotional and developmental screenings, plus hearing and vision checks to ensure no child's needs go unnoticed.👩‍🏫 Dedicated Staff & Continued Growth
Our educators are experienced, well-trained, and pursue specialized training annually. We invest in their success through health insurance, paid holidays, and participation in the TEACH Program, which provides scholarships for those advancing their Early Childhood Education careers.
